Who should attend?

GPs who do not currently work for BEMS at the Bath Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) or for Medvivo's GP Out of Hours (OOH) service who want to find out more about working in Urgent Care in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES).

This could be GPs in training, current salaried and GP partners, GPs considering different opportunities nearing retirement.

Purpose of the meeting

  • Encourage more GPs to consider working in Urgent Care and Out of Hours in B&NES
  • Opportunity to explain what it is like to work in Urgent Care and Out of Hours in B&NES
  • Understand what the barriers might be for GPs to work in Urgent Care and Out of Hours in B&NES

  • Briefing of GP role in Bath UTC, BEMS Urgent Care Lead GP
    - Clinical model and links with the rest of RUH
    - Shift pattern
    - Other support staff
    - IM&T
    - GP T&C sessional
  • Briefing of GP role in GP OOH in B&NES by Dr Shabari Hosur, Medical Director Medvivo, Dr Steph Ansell, Medvivo Clinical Lead for B&NES and Dr Hannah Leyden, Medvivo Clinical Lead for Wiltshire.
  • Feedback from attendees about the barriers
  • Q&A session with Dr Andrew Smit and Dr Shabari Hosur
  • Way forward with Dr Andrew Smith
