Our history

Wiltshire Medical Services was founded in 2004 in response to the change to the GP contract to run GP out of hours services for North Wiltshire PCG. Consolidation and reconfiguration provided the opportunity for Wiltshire Medical Services (WMS) to develop its offering and the company matured into a respected and trusted provider of quality services with the flexibility to meet the changing needs of the Wiltshire health community.

WMS was successful in the tendering for an Urgent Care service across the whole of Wiltshire in 2010 and this provided the springboard for the next phase of the company’s development. The dynamic nature of WMS enabled it to embrace the recent changes and develop an integrated health and social care service. This was initially in the form of a Telecare Monitoring and Mobile Response Service for Wiltshire Council supporting their Help to Live @ Home initiative and more recently in delivering a joint health/social care rapid response service in order to prevent inappropriate admission and facilitate early discharge from hospital.

In 2013 Wiltshire Medical Services received investment from Fidelity Group and Medvivo Group Ltd was created.

Medvivo Careline

Based in Poundbury near Dorchester in Dorset, Medvivo Careline Limited (MCL), formerly known as Magna Careline started trading in 1989.

The company began offering its essential alarm monitoring service to residents of the Magna Housing Group, the former owner of the company and grew considerably since then, offering additional services such as comfort calls and a wide range of products to help customers to remain independent but safe within their homes. Out-of-hours services for other organisations including housing associations, local government and corporate clients were also offered, along with several disaster recovery partnerships.

In June 2014, the company was acquired by Medvivo Group from the Magna Housing Group and combined with Medvivo's telecare services to create a larger, more robust organisation, with two TSA accredited call centres.
