Group of 50 Launched

19th June 2020

Virtual service user group set up to help influence and improve service user experience.

Recognising the value of working with its service users, Medvivo has created a platform to encourage the engagement and interaction with a cross selection of service users.

Members of the Group of 50 will provide feedback which will influence and improve the experience of those using the services delivered through the Integrated Urgent Care contract delivered in Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW).

Chief Operating Officer, Michelle Reader, explains “We want to be responsive to people’s needs and we hope the Group of 50 will help us achieve this. By having a positive and constructive forum, we can be held to account by our service users and ensure we continue to deliver the outstanding level of service for which we are recognised by the Care Quality Commission.”

The Group of 50 is a concept developed from a discussion with NAPP (National Association of Patient Participation), who provide support to GP surgeries. There is nothing similar for out of hours providers who do not have a registered patient population.

Setting up a virtual group of 50 was discussed with the local commissioning group and, with their agreement, this has now been set up in readiness to welcome members from across the BSW area.

Membership is open to anyone within this area, although Medvivo staff and members of their families are not eligible to join. The group is looking to be as inclusive as possible so a wide range of age, gender and ethnicity is sought.

Group members will be invited to give feedback on various aspects of the service and the development of new services. Due to the current climate, membership will initially be virtual, and communication will mainly be electronic – although in cases where group members may not have access to some technology, alternative arrangements will be made.

Interested parties are encouraged to read the Group Terms of Reference before completing an application form. For further information please visit www.medvivo.com/group-of-50 or feel free to email groupof50@medvivo.com or call 0800 6444200 (option 0) and ask to speak to a member of the Quality Team.
