First GP Education Event a Success!

BMI Healthcare and Medvivo invited GPs and NPs from across the region to join them for the first in a new series of GP Education Events.

Medvivo was delighted to welcome Mr Allaaeldin Abummater MBBCh, MD, PLAB, MRCOphth, to Fox Talbot House, Chippenham on Monday 4th December for this Event arranged in conjunction with BMI Healthcare. Mr Abumatter is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at BMI The Ridgeway and the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, as well as the Ophthalmology Clinical Tutor at the Medical School, University of Bristol.

Event photoEmma Wilkins, BMI Healthcare Account Manager, and Dr Jamie Brosch, Medvivo’s Medical Director, welcomed 16 GPs and NPs to the evening event that started with a light supper.

Following refreshments, Mr Abumatter gave an engaging and stimulating talk entitled “Eye Presentations in Urgent Care – Tips for Treatment and Referral”. Throughout the interactive talk there were plenty of opportunities for questions and attendees were able to seek answers to particular situations they had encountered in a General Practice and Out of Hours setting.

Jamie concluded the evening by updating those present on the Bath & North East Somerset, Swindon & Wiltshire Integrated Urgent Care contract. This contract will be provided by Medvivo, in conjunction with Vocare and BEMS+ and commences on 1st May 2018. 

Jamie was also able to share the news that Medvivo will be providing the Swindon GP Out of Hours service from 1st February 2018.

Analysis of the feedback received has shown very high attendee satisfaction following Mr Abumatter’s excellent presentation. Our thanks to him for this most valuable evening.

The next in the series of Education Events is scheduled for Monday 5th March 2018, starting at 18.45 at Fox Talbot House, Chippenham, where David Hollinghurst, MA (Cantab), MB B chir, FRCS (Tr & Orth), Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, will present a talk entitled “Managing Knee Pain and Knee Injuries in General Practice”.
