This year has been one of the best (and busiest) in Medvivo’s history. Here’s a look back at our top ten news stories from 2017.
Back in February we prepared for an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). As the provider of Wiltshire’s GP out of hours’ service, as well as other health and care services, we were thrilled to receive an “Outstanding” rating.
We aim to deliver safe, effective and person-centred services, so this rating is a true reflection of the dedication, commitment and hard work of everyone who works here.
Approximately this time last year the Executive Team was working on the first response in the tender process for the new Integrated Urgent Care contract in Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire.
Having been awarded the contract in October, we are now working with our partners Vocare and BEMS+ to prepare to deliver this innovative new service from 1st May 2018.
We have been asked to take on the Swindon OOH service and are currently busy mobilising the service which will ‘go live’ from 1st February 2018. This means we will now be delivering STP-wide GP OOH services.
We received an outstanding report following a TSA Quality Standards Framework audit. The multidisciplinary approach and partnership working was commended, along with our training and development pathway which was found to be “excellent and a best practice example.”
The report referenced our “ambitious and clearly articulated leadership vision and direction, backed up by a very robust strategy and commitment to quality, governance and data integrity” and our “enthusiastic and skilled workforce with the right ‘tools’ for the job and delivering a safe service where customers are at the forefront of everything they do.”
Medvivo Digital Limited is our sister company that develops healthcare software. Their very first product launched this year with DoctorLink, a symptom assessment tool that provides healthcare advice. During the launch activities the techworld website featured DoctorLink as the number one Healthtech Startup to watch in 2018!
The acquisition of Expert 24, a global provider of healthcare decision support software earlier this year is part of a strategy by investors Eight Roads to develop a global winner in the digital health market. Working together, Expert 24, Medvivo and DoctorLink will collaborate to develop and provide a range of products and services in this sector.
There have been many highlights for this side of the business this year. As part of Argenti, led by PA Consulting, our partnership with Hampshire County Council won an MJ Award for helping to “deliver better outcomes”.
We were a finalist in the Dorset Echo Care Awards for best care organisation; and at the Hants Innovate event, our Business Development Team received the 2017 Award for Care Technology Monitoring as part of the Argenti Group.
The Telecare sector has seen significant development with technology continuing to help enhance people’s lives. One such development is Brain in Hand, which uses personal technology to help those with autism, a mental health condition, a learning difficulty or a brain injury live independently.
We have been proud to be working on a trial over the last few months in Hampshire, helping people to reduce anxiety, feel safe and increase their independence. This is ongoing and we hope to work more in this area in 2018.
In addition to this we have also started to provide alarm monitoring services in the London Borough of Barnet as part of Argenti.
And to build further resilience and continue to improve our alarm monitoring services, we virtualised the two call centres we have. This has had a significant impact on our performance and provides greater flexibility in how we handle calls from across our various locations.
Throughout this year, we have been working with Oysta Technology to provide mobile telecare services. This service takes traditional telecare alarm monitoring to the next level and enables thousands of people to live safely and independently not just in their own homes, but in their communities.
We are now confirmed as the preferred alarm monitoring provider for all Oysta customers. Our new partnership was cemented with us being invited to take part in a film about this service.
We provide quite a range of health and care services both across Wiltshire, Dorset, Hampshire, Bexley and other areas. But we are one team, one team that takes an innovative approach in everything we do to be “altogether better”.
Earlier this year we launched a dedicated careers website. With video interviews and Q&A articles, the website really showcases the work we do and the people who work here.
If you're interested in working with a team that does amazing things in the health and care sector, keep an eye on the “Search Jobs & Apply” section for the latest vacancies. There are opportunities for a range of clinical, call centre and operational jobs.
With staff working from various locations, it is vital everyone has access to resources, policies and procedures. The launch of our new Intranet enabled all this and much, much more. It provided an opportunity for all staff to connect, communicate and collaborate online.
With discussion forums, a social wall and regularly updated resources, all staff have access to timely, accurate and engaging content across every area of our business.
We achieved certification to the internationally recognised ISO 27001:2013 standard, establishing ourselves as one of the leaders in our field. The independent assessment by the British Assessment Bureau demonstrates our commitment to the security of customers, employees and shareholder information.
What a year it has been, full of amazing achievements and great news.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our staff, customers and service users, commissioners and partners for their help and support in making it a great year.
